Everyone loves a good road trip story, the 70s and strong Midwest women. Why not get all three in one place. The dialogue is quick and witty, reads like a screen play. In fact, this would make a good movie, or edgy Netflix mini-series.

This lively read from Fay Ellen Graetz thrusts two young women onto the open road to escape their claustrophobic Midwestern town. They're hoping to thumb their way to real life in California. On the way they run into characters they never could have dreamed up, crime, intrigue, laughter, sex, love. In other words, life in all its shades and colors. Graetz's writing style is fresh and fun, reminding me of energetic theatre dialogue. Enjoy.

What a lovely short novel....it hooks you and you don't want to put it down until the satisfying ending. I loved the characters, the good ones and the bad. Do yourself a favor and grab this book for a great read.

What a fun read! I did a lot of hitchhiking with my girlfriends in the 70s and this brought back memories. The book is so well written and easy to read with a conversational writing style that I really enjoyed. Would make a great gift for “baby boomers” or even their millennial kids, to show them how different life was back then.

After reading this you too will likely await more from this author, as in both of her books the story intrigues!
Couldn’t put it down once I opened the book. Love the twists and turns in the storyline. Hope to see more from this author.
